Managing perpetual inventory and assets is easier than ever with HomecareNet’s integrated functionality. Drugs, supplies and equipment are efficiently managed — from the initial purchase order to your supplier to tracking the cost of products used for patients.
Integrated Perpetual Inventory
All stocked drugs and supplies are defined in HomecareNet’s Inventory Maintenance. The information about each inventory item is customized to your operations — units of measure, costs, vendors and PAR levels. Drugs and supplies can be entered with multiple units of measure and ordered, dispensed and billed in any of these units.
HomecareNet is integrated with the MediSpan drug database, with monthly updates of NDCs and AWPs available from HAI’s website.
Inventory can be accessed by mouse, keyboard or through the use of a bar-code scanner. All drug and supply inventory used during compounding and delivery is automatically decremented from on-hand balances. The system also allows you to perform physical counts, enter receipts, and record other adjustments. An inventory valuation report provides real-time access to your on-hand balances and total value of inventory. A recall report identifies patients with specific products and lot numbers.
Comprehensive Asset Tracking
Each piece of equipment is identified by HME type, serial number and, optionally, asset tag number. A comprehensive history of all changes in status – assignment to a patient, pickup, cleaning, maintenance, sale to a patient – is captured and available in a HME history report. Maintenance due dates are established based on maintenance cycles that you define and drive a preventative maintenance report.
Tools such as payer-specific caps, automatic convert-to-sale rules, and the ability to swap like items support a smooth billing process for recurring rentals.
HomecareNet’s Purchase Orders module supports ordering and receiving of drugs, supplies, HME, and miscellaneous items. Purchase Orders may be created automatically by identifying all items ordered from a particular vendor which are at or below fill point, or on demand for a specific vendor and items. Purchase Orders may be printed, faxed, or submitted electronically to leading medical suppliers that use a standard X12 format, such as Cardinal, McKesson, and Amerisource Bergen.
Receipts can be recorded using a PDA-based bar code scanner; entered quickly via keyboard based on the PO, by exception; or on a line-by-line basis. Partially received Purchase Orders may be closed or kept open for additional receipts. For vendors that distribute their catalogs electronically, HomecareNet will import and update your vendor costs.
